What to Bring to Pride March

The Metro Manila Pride March and Festival is just around the corner, set for June 29, 2019, 12 noon at the Marikina Sports Center. In the meantime, stay updated on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and get some essentials ready for the big day.

Friends

You can register for Pride ahead of time as an individual or as a company or organization. Pride is safer and more fun with friends, so invite everyone. Cute coordinating outfits are not necessary, but definitely don’t hurt. If you don’t have a group to go with, put on a smile and make some new friends while you’re waiting for the march to start.

Water

Hydration is good for your skin, and for not passing out in the middle of Pride March. Bring your own drinks (and snacks, too) because convenience stores near the Sports Center are usually packed after the march. Save the booze for the after party, because alcohol plus afternoon sun plus a lot of walking will dehydrate you quite quickly.

Protective Gear

It’s good to be ready for any weather, so bring along an umbrella or hat, a pair of sun glasses, a face towel or handkerchief, and a fan.

June is the perfect month to wear your pride. Come in full drag or just wear a statement shirt, or accessorize with your flag of choice. I’ll be wearing a pin I got for Php120 from The Gay Agenda PH. Check them out on Facebook and Instagram for pins, flags, bracelets, lanyards, and more.

Need help getting there?

Put Marikina Sports Center into your GPS or pin it in your ride hailing app of choice. If you’re commuting, download Sakay.ph and find the route that works best for you.
